5G-Connected PCS Are Coming
Intel is collaborating with some of the world’s leading PC manufacturers to create 5G-connected PCs, that will offer anytime, anywhere connectivity at lightning speeds. Powered by Intel® Core™ processors and connected by Intel 5G modems, these mobile PCs will be designed for maximum work and maximum play, no matter where you are. Download massive files in seconds or enjoy virtual reality gaming on a thin, untethered 5G PC.
Evolve with Commercial 5G Modems
Intel’s 5G modem family addresses the varied requirements of 5G use cases—delivering a range of data rates and capabilities while providing targeted coverage, battery life, and latency. The Intel® XMM™ 8160 5G modem, optimized to support 5G and legacy modes in a single chipset, will accelerate widespread 5G adoption and enable device manufacturers to design smaller, more power-efficient devices.
Develop, Test & Deploy with the Intel® 5G Mobile Trial Platform
Intel® 5G Mobile Trial Platform is a pivotal resource for mobile operators, manufacturers and other industry leaders to develop, test, and deploy services and solutions that meet the latency, reliability, and performance requirements of 5G. Providing the foundation for dozens of worldwide trials, the Intel® 5G Moblie Trial Platform has achieved global-first implementations of 5G New Radio (NR) compliant use cases.
Broad-Scale 5G Networks
Intel and its ecosystem partners introduced the first broad-scale 5G network to the 2018 Olympic Winter Games PyeongChang, while enabling spectators in and outside of the sporting venues to join in—experiencing first-hand the future of 5G.
This Is 5G on Intel
5G experiences will only be as capable as the networks that support them. Learn more about the ways Intel is working to transform the network infrastructure to support the 5G networks of the future.
Pervasive Connectivity with Technologies for Every Use Case
Intel wireless products provide the industry’s most advanced connectivity technologies—including highly-integrated system platforms, power-saving, and next-level LTE and Wi-Fi capabilities—to optimize every experience.
Intel’s multimode modem supports 5G New Radio (NR) as well as 4G, 3G, and 2G legacy radios in a single chipset and download speeds up to 6Gbps. Available in the second half of 2019, the modem is optimized to scale across device categories such as PCs, phones, and broadband access gateways.
Intel’s latest LTE modem delivers Cat-19 capabilities and supports speeds up to 1.6 gigabits per second. This powerful LTE modem features advanced multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO), carrier aggregation and a broad range of band support. It will ship in commercial devices in 2019.
