Is the Intel® Stratix® 10 FPGA power model correct in the Intel® Quartus® Prime Pro Edition software version 18.1 and earlier?

Environment

  • Intel® Quartus® Prime Pro Edition
  • BUILT IN - ARTICLE INTRO SECOND COMPONENT
    Description

No, there is an update to the final power model for the Intel® Stratix® 10 FPGA in the Intel® Quartus® Prime Pro Edition software version 18.1 Update 1. This change only affects L-Tile devices.

    Resolution

    1)      Expected impact is small, with the maximum impact being 80 mW

    2)      If the design can tolerate the 80mW power increase, no further action is required.

To determine the exact power impact, rerun the Intel Quartus Prime Pro Edition software version 18.1 Update 1 Early Power Estimator (EPE) for your design.

    3)      If the design cannot tolerate the power increase, changes to logic or design optimization are required.

The 18.1 Update 1 EPE can be downloaded from the Early Power Estimators and Power Analyzer page.
