How much current does the ClockLock™ circuit in an FLEX 10K® EPF10K100DX consume?

Environment

  • PLL
  • BUILT IN - ARTICLE INTRO SECOND COMPONENT
    Description You can compute the current consumption of the ClockLock and ClockBoost circuits in FLEX 10K devices using the following formula:

    I = .5*F mA

    In this equation, I is the current flowing through the VCC_CKLK and GND_CKLK pins, and F is the frequency output of the phase-locked loop (PLL). Therefore, if you are driving a 25 MHz clock into an active ClockBoost circuit, typical current consumption would be:

    I = .5 * 50 = 25 mA

    If you are using the ClockLock and ClockBoost circuits simultaneously, you can compute current consumption only if you are using ClockBoost. For example, if you are using the ClockLock and ClockBoost circuits simultaneously with a 25 MHz input (50 MHz output of the PLL), I = 25 mA.
