Why do some designs behave incorrectly if they contain an LPM_MULT megafunction with a constant input?

    Description

Due to a problem in the Quartus® II software versions 9.1 through 10.1, Physical Synthesis optimizations may produce incorrect results for designs targeting Stratix® III, Stratix IV, Stratix V, Arria® II and HardCopy® devices. This problem affects designs containing some configurations of the LPM_MULT megafunction involving a constant-generating LCELL which drives an adder LCELL.

A patch is available to fix this problem for the Quartus II software versions 9.1 SP2, 10.0, 10.0 SP1 and 10.1. The patches for versions 9.1 SP2, 10.0 and 10.0 SP1 also allow you to analyze your current design to see if it has been affected by this problem. See the Readme file for these patches for details on this capability. Download and install the appropriate patch from the links below:

This problem is fixed beginning with the Quartus II software version 10.1 SP1.
