How do I know if my computer supports Intel® Wireless Docking?The following adapters offer wireless docking when connected to a device that supports this feature. Check with your computer manufacturer to make sure your laptop and docking station support Intel Wireless Docking.
  • Intel® Tri-Band Wireless-AC 18265
  • Intel® Tri-Band Wireless-AC 18260
  • Intel® Tri-Band Wireless-AC 17265
How far can the computer be from the docking station and connect?A laptop can connect wirelessly to a docking station when put in line-of-sight, about 4 ft (1.5 m) of one another. Longer distances are not recommended as the wireless connection is too weak.
What devices can connect through the docking station?

The docking station can connect to multiple devices, including:

  • Up to two displays connected via HDMI or DisplayPort (DP)
  • USB 3.0 peripherals and storage devices:
    • External USB storage
    • Wired Network/Ethernet
  • User input devices:
    • Keyboard
    • Mouse
    • Touch
  • Webcam
  • Audio devices

When the laptop connects to the docking station, it has access to all devices connected to the docking station.

What devices are compatible with Intel Wireless Docking?All monitors and USB devices should be compatible with Intel Wireless Docking. If your device is not connecting, contact your computer manufacturer or Intel Customer Support.
Is dual-mode DisplayPort (DP++) supported on Intel Wireless Docking?Intel Wireless Docking does not support DP++. Find more information on DP++.
How does the computer connect to the docking station?Wireless docking uses a technology known as Intel® WiGig and follows the IEEE 802.11ad standard. It works in the 60-GHz radio frequency band that supports up to 7 Gbps at very short distances.

Driver versions and updates

Do I have the latest version of Intel Wireless Dock Manager?You can find your software version by selecting Dock Management from the Intel Wireless Dock Manager. The latest version is listed in the Downloads table. Click on the link to the software.
How do I get the latest version of Intel Wireless Dock Manager?Downloads for the Intel® Wireless Dock Manager Software version 3.0.53144 will no longer be available after October 24th, 2019 and will not be supported with any additional functional, security, or other updates. All versions are provided as-is. Intel recommends that users of Intel® Wireless Dock Manager Software uninstall and discontinue use as soon as possible.
How do I update the docking station firmware?You must connect to the dock in order to update the docking station firmware. If the docking station firmware requires an update, you get a notification when you connect your laptop. After you approve the firmware update message, the docking station updates the firmware automatically.

Installation and troubleshooting

Why is my USB device slower when connected to the Intel Wireless Docking?A wireless USB device might have lower throughput than a direct connection. Make sure that you have installed the latest version of Intel Wireless Dock Manager.
Why can I not connect to my docking station?
  • Move your laptop closer to the docking station.
  • If your dock is on manual connection, open the Intel Wireless Dock Manager and follow the prompts to connect.
  • Make sure you've enabled the Intel WiGig radio on your computer.
Why does my docking station not show in Intel Wireless Dock Manager?
  • Make sure you've powered on your docking station.
  • Move your laptop closer to the docking station.
  • Make sure you've enabled the Intel WiGig radio.
How do I change between automatic and manual connection?Once connected to the docking station, you can select an automatic connection. Move the slider on the main screen of the Intel Wireless Dock Manager to select an automatic connection.
How do I set up a dock to not allow automatic connections?You can change how the dock connects to nearby computers from the Dock Management window.
What happens when I move out of range of the docking station?You get an error message when you move out of range of the docking station. Review connectivity issues for possible solutions. As you walk away from the docking station, your computer automatically disconnects from the dock. In this case, a message showing that you have disconnected from the dock is expected.
How do I change to my video configuration?Check with your computer manufacturer for instructions on how to change your video configuration. Options can vary depending on your graphics adapter and operating system.
