Why Am I Not Able to Use the 10-Bit 4:2:0 YCbCr Display Settings on an Intel® NUC Kit NUC8i3BEH?

Description

For displays that can use UHD HDR (High Dynamic Range ) content up to 4:4:4.

There is no way to display at UHD 60Hz 10-bit 4:2:0 YCbCr in windows on the Intel® NUC Kit NUC8i3BEH.

Resolution

When using Intel® Core™ i3-8109U Processor graphics, all supported media codecs operate on 8bpc, YCbCr 4:2:0 video profiles.

  • It is possible to run the system at 10-bit color by lowering to 24Hz with Intel® NUC Kit NUC8i3BEH or older generations.
    • Be aware that this may cause system instability. 
  • The YCbCr feature is supported by Intel® NUCs, but to access this feature, the display needs to support it as well
    • Check with the manufacturer of the monitor/TV to ensure your display supports YCbCr.
