What KVM Switches and other USB devices work with my Intel® Server Board S1200SP Family?

The BIOS can initialize and use the following types of USB devices:

  • USB specification–compliant keyboard
  • USB specification–compliant mouse
  • USB specification–compliant storage devices that use bulk-only transport mechanism

Besides USB 3.0, the BIOS also supports USB 2.0 mode of operation. Therefore, the BIOS supports USB 1.1 and USB 2.0 compliant devices and host controllers.

If your USB isn't compliant, it will be generating SMI event constantly during POST and make BIOS in SMI handler dead loop.

In such a case, you need to disconnect the incompliant USB device during POST and connect it back after the POST completes.
