Determine If the F6 Installation Method Should Be Used to Install Intel® Rapid Storage Technology

Answer the following questions to determine if you need to use the F6 installation method:

  1. Does your system include a supported chipset and controller hub?
    • If yes, proceed to question 2.
    • If no, the F6 installation method and Intel® Rapid Storage Technology (Intel® RST) are not required.
  2. Is your system in AHCI mode?
    • If yes, proceed to question 4.
    • If no, proceed to question 3.
  3. Is your system in RAID mode?
    • If yes, proceed to question 4.
    • If no, the F6 installation method and Intel RST are not required.
  4. Are you using Windows Vista* or Windows 7*?
    • If yes, the F6 installation method is not required.

      If your system is in RAID mode and the operating system is loaded, install Intel RST using the executable from Windows. This method allows you to take advantage of the user interface and event notifications available through the system tray icon.

    • If no, use the F6 installation method to load the Intel RST driver during operating system installation.

      If your system is in RAID mode and the operating system is loaded, install Intel RST using the executable from Windows. This method allows you to take advantage of the user interface and event notifications available through the system tray icon.
