Many VMs may coexist peacefully and share CPU and memory resources; the addition of 10Gb Ethernet to this equation virtually eliminates network as a point of contention, but storage I/O still remains challenging. At this challenge’s core is the fact that multiple VMs on the same VM datastore interleave predictable I/O to the point it is indistinguishable from random I/O.
